Wider Public Knowledge on Paxil Side Effects Sought

Looking at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cautions, results of clinical testing, recommendations of researches and complaints from users, public knowledge should have intensified to help avoid unfortunate incidents.  Alleged victims ofantidepressants from British Columbia aim to increase awareness about infantexposure to antidepressants.

As reported by patients, Paxil (paroxetine hydrochloride) side effects manifest themselves upon taking it just like any other medicine. It is prescribed for the treatment of major depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety, and generalized anxiety disorder. Paxil is one of the most doctor-prescribed antidepressant drugs today, according to the FDA.

There are minor ones and in some extreme cases, life-threatening side effects occur such as birth defects to newborn babies whose mothers took the antidepressant while pregnant.

As conducted research studies and gathered patient reports, Paxil has been labeled to have severe dangerous side effects and withdrawal symptoms.  Drowsiness, weakness, constipation and diarrhea are reported to be Paxil side effects that are most commonly experienced. Other side effects include agitation, impulsiveness, nervousness, nausea, decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and ejaculatory delay. Some of these side effects are generally minor and thus medical attention is rarely needed.

However, Paxil has also very critical side effects wherein immediate medical attention should be considered. Paxil users should consult their doctors if they encounter side effects like breathing and eating difficulties, fainting, memory problems, tremors, allergic reaction, seizures, balance or coordination problems, abnormal heart rate, confusions, hallucinations, personality changes and suicidal thoughts.

Consequently, immediate report to the doctor is required for those who have doubts and queries about their health condition in connection with Paxil intake. Paxil manufacturer, GlaxoSmithSkine (GSK), actually faces a number of Paxil Lawsuit. The lawsuits alleged that the company was fully-aware of the harmful side effects of Paxil but they still produced and distributed the drug. Therefore, those who experienced serious side effects should also seek legal advice to determine if they are eligible for monetary compensation from the Paxil manufacturer.
